Not Your Typical Summer Camp
Animal Camp Jamaica is a unique teen travel program! We are different than other travel camps out there for many reasons: We own the property where our campers stay, we are friends with the locals and neighbors, and have personal connections at each place we travel. We aren’t tourists. We combine the fun of an adventure camp, with the enrichment of a science camp, and the stewardship of a community service program. And we can do this all while staying on the most gorgeous island at an incredible Villa.
Our home away from home is called Seven Palms Villa. This two-acre estate is air-conditioned bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), a large fenced yard (2 acres) with over 20 different kinds of fruit tree and a private pool. With just a short walk to the beach and no more than a 30 min drive to our excursions, we’re just a jump away from all the fun!
Scott and Lori Martin are the owners and founders of Cub Creek Science Camp and Animal Camp Jamaica. They met while working at a summer camp, and married a few years later. In 1993 Lori decided to use her love of nature, animals and children to develop a summer camp that would focus on the natural curiosity that she loved nurturing in kids, and thus Cub Creek Science Camp was born. What started during vacation time from a full time job, grew into a year round operation, far exceeding their dreams. Cub Creek Science Camp has grown tremendously since its humble beginning and now serves over over 2000 campers each summer from all over the world. This camp is also the only residential summer camp in the world with its very own zoo.
One of the traditions of camp, is for campers to share their dreams for the future. Over the years, more and more campers shared their dream to work as Marine Biologist or in other jobs involving caring for the oceans and its animals. Because Scott and Lori also loved the ocean, had previously enjoyed several vacations in Jamaica, and were familiar with a variety of great dive and snorkeling sites, the island seemed like a perfect location to begin a teen travel program. So, after much planning and preparation, Cub Creek began its own teen travel program to the island of Jamaica in 2014 called Animal Camp Jamaica. They have since then also started a non-profit organization called The Bus Stop Mission that works with the community to provide jobs, training, and a way to meet their everyday needs.
Animal Camp Jamaica is the sister camp to Cub Creek Science Camp with the same passions of animals, science, and creating incredible memories. Over the years, Animal Camp Jamaica has taken teens to the island of Jamaica with great counselors who share in the amazement of the beautiful island.
