While on the island, we will be staying at Seven Palms Villa. Located about 50 minutes from the Montego Bay airport, in the town of Runaway Bay. Runaway Bay is a small town in the middle of the north coast. It has several beaches, restaurants and grocery stores. In our opinion, the best part of this area are the ocean and the reefs, which offer some great snorkeling and opportunities to learn about the marine ecosystem.
Seven Palms Villa
Seven Palms Villa is a beautiful 5-bedroom home with a two-acre yard, bordering the Runaway Bay Golf Course. The yard is covered with a huge variety of flowering and fruit trees, including mango, ackee, breadfruit, pomegranate, coconut, sour sap, neese berry and loads of banana and pineapple plants. This villa provides modern conveniences, such as air-conditioning and WiFi, in a lush tropical environment. It is just a few blocks from the ocean. In fact, we can see the ocean from the villa. We are close enough to walk to the beach, yet far enough away that you don’t worry about strangers walking walking onto the property. Seven Palms Villa is in a friendly neighborhood. The yard is fully fenced and two friendly, yet formidable dogs, who discourage unwelcome visitors.
The villa has a lovely fresh water pool in the backyard. Several almond trees provide shade and a welcome relief from the heat of the sun. The pool servers as a great location to practice snorkeling and take the first scuba class for those campers who will become scuba certified on their trip. Our staff are lifeguard certified and always on duty when campers are in the swimming pool.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom and is set up during Animal Camp Jamaica with two bunk beds. While at the villa, campers spend most of their time playing games in living room, hanging out at the pool, collecting fruit from around the estate, playing with the dogs or playing frisbee or basketball, but everyone agrees that it’s great to be able to get a great night's sleep in an air-conditioned room.
The villa has staff who will help us during our stay. They ensure that the pool stays clean, the yard stays mowed and that we always have food in the refrigerator. In fact the villa cook will do most of the food preparation for us, and our housekeeper will do laundry if needed. We will make some of our meals and we do most of our own chores, but no one complains about the help.
The Villa is just a few minute walk from the Cardiff Hall Beach. Seven Palms Villa is located in the neighborhood of Cardiff Hall and this Beach is the private beach of the residence and guest of the Cardiff Hall homeowners. There is also a great reef just off shore that is routinely visited by sea turtles and provides an inspiring location to snorkel and scuba dive.
The Villa also has access to a private three acre beach known as Jamaican Breeze Beach. Jamaican Breeze is about 2 miles from the villa (a nice morning walk or just a 5 minute drive away). Here, campers can enjoy fewer waves then the Cardiff Hall Beach, and great kayaking and snorkeling around the amazing pocket reefs just off the shore! Because we own Jamaican Breeze Beach, we are able to store equipment on site and will spend the majority of our morning on the beach while we learn about all the amazing animals that live just off shore. This is a great place to picnic, build sand castles, fish, boat, or just lay in a hammock under the cotton, sea grape and palm trees.
