Add-ons & Trip Days
We do SO much exploration in Jamaica, but can you believe that we offer even MORE!? We have some optional activities that campers may add on to their camp stay. These things are generally decided and paid for prior to campers leaving for the island.
On the second Wednesday of our trip, campers choose what they want to do for their day! They can choose from a variety of locations on the island and activities. Trip Day is a fun addition to the trip, but is not required. We ask that Trip Day options be chosen prior to the start of your session. This helps us plan and ensure that each camper is able to participate. Changes in Trip Days are not guaranteed during a session due to the availability of the location.
Campers may also choose to relax or not participate in any of the below options on Trip Day. Campers can stay at the Villa or hang out at the Beach. They can spend the day hanging out drinking smoothies, lounging by the pool, kayaking, playing board games, and catching up on some relaxing!
Dolphin Cove’s Sea Keeper
Have you always dreamed of working with dolphins? Well, here is your chance! Spend an entire day at Dolphin Cove behind the scenes and working with their dolphin trainers. You will learn about operant conditioning and dolphin training; see behind the scences of their food preparation kitchen; hold and snorkel with nurse sharks; and swim with dolphins! This also includes all the perks of general admission of the park: kayaking, snorkeling with stingrays, waterslide, boat rides, and holding the animals along the Jungle Trail.
Mystic Mountain 1: Rainforest Sky Explorer
Enjoy a chair lift ride through the jungle to the top of Mystic Mountain which offers a fantastic view of the town of Ocho Rios and the beautiful Caribbean Sea. At the top of the mountain, you will enjoy the shops and food. Visit the museum and plunge down the Mystic waterslide into the infinity edge pool with one of the most spectacular views on the island.
Mystic Mountain 2: Rainforest Sky Explorer + Bobsled
Hold onto your hat: this is one wild ride! Inspired by the famous Jamaica bobsled Olympic team, the bobsled ride in Rainforest Adventures Jamaica near the Dunn's River Falls is the park’s signature attraction, ranked by TripAdvisor.com as one of the top attractions in Ocho Rios Jamaica. You’ll be safely strapped into a custom-designed, high-tech sled and whooshed down a 1000-meter long track installed into the side of the mountain, completely driven by gravity: yes, Newton, it really works!
Mystic Mountain 3: Rainforest Sky Explorer + Bobsled + Zip-line
This option combines all the above options with an amazing Zip-lining experience!
Scuba Diving: 2 Tank Dive
Spend some more time honing your scuba skills. **This is only available for those participants who have completed the PADI course or are already certified.
This additional item is available for any camper who wishes to have a once in a lifetime experience! Campers need no prior experience riding to join in on this activity. We have an experienced and guiding friend who takes our campers along the beach. We have set aside one day, where the choice of how to spend your day is completely up to you! You can choose to spend your day relaxing by the pool at the villa or enjoying an island adventure. We have put together a list fun-filled choices! The price listed includes the cost of transportation to and from the location and a chaperone. (Prices are subject to change)
We offer campers the chance to become PADI SCUBA certified while on the island of Jamaica! How cool is that?! Campers work with the local dive shop to become PADI certified divers. Campers will have lessons both at our villa and in the ocean learning the basics of equalizing and regulating their breath; language signs under the water; and how to be a safe and careful diver. At the end of their lessons they will be tested. (Animal Camp Jamaica can not be held responsible for campers deemed unfit or unready to be certified divers. Refunds will not be given for campers who do not pass or who opt-out of finishing their training).
Resort Divers in Runaway Bay Jamaica is our local dive shop and their owners are long time friends of the Martin Family. You can read more about the safety involved in SCUBA diving HERE.
